This article will help you understand the dangers and how to avoid them. Drugs, like alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine can cloud your judgment, make it hard to know right from wrong, distract you from reality.

 Getting High Makes You Forget

Being a teen is exciting!  Being a
teen in a world with sex, drugs,
and AIDS.

You might know all the ways drugs
and AIDS are connected.

Drugs Make You Forget What's Important...

So you care less about yourself or your friends, because, you just don't care.

You Forget You're Only Human.

- - - When you get high you may    mistakenly believe nothing bad   could happen to you

Drugs Can Make You Do Things You May Wish You Never Did, Like:

 1.  Act reckless and foolish.
 2.  Get romantic with someone you don't really like.
 3.  Have sex without planning.
 4.  Have sex without thinking of the consequences.
 5.  Forget to Use a condom.or forget to have your partner use a condom.

When Drugs Make You Forget, You May Take Risks, Like Having Sex.

* Teen years are a time of making all kinds of new decisions.

* One of those decisions is when to have sex.

* It's imporatnt to make that decision with a clear head because sex today if far riskier than ever before.
* Drugs, like alccohol, marijuana, and cocaine can get in the way of making clear decisions.

Why Is Sex So Risky, It Can lead To Aids

*   Unprotected sex with an infected partner is the most common way HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, is spread.

* Another way is sharing needles to inject drugs.

* Your sex partner may have had sex with someone who shared a needle to inject drugs with an HIV infected person.

* The more sex partners you have, the more chance you have of getting AIDS.

* Two sure ways to avoid the AIDS virus are: not having sex and not sharing needles.

*  If you choose to have sex, always use a condom to help reduce the risk of getting AIDS.

Make Your Decision About Sex With A clear Head, Without Drugs

*  Sometimes you can feel pressured to have sex when you may not want to, and drugs make it harder to say no. Pressure about sex can be hard to deal with ---  it can come from your boyfriend or girlfriend, from the crowd you hang out with , or even from your own feelings.

* The first thing to remember is you're in charge of your body and what you choose to do with it.

*  The second thing to remember is there is a lot at stake -- a decision about sex can have consequences that last a lifetime

It Helps To Make A Plan And Stick To It

Then if someone offers you drugs or suggested sex, you'll know what to do. Plan not to use drugs so you can keep a clear head.

Plan how to say no, to be careful, and to think about what to do. --   The time to make your plan is when you have a clear head.

Making Your Plan

Think about who you are and what's important to you, think about how using drugs and having sex could affect that. When you have a plan it's easier to handle situations where you want to have fun with friends but don't want to use drugs or have sex.

If someone pressures you about drugs you can say nicely but firmly, "I'm not interested," or, "I don't use drugs."

If someone pressures you about sex you could let them know where you stand by saying: I'm not ready for it yet," or, "Maybe it feels right for you, but it's not for me."

It's A Fact

*  Teens who use condoms during sex tend to use them less if they've been drinking or smoking dope.

*  More than 20 percent of the people who have AIDS are in their 20's. Since it can take up to 10 years or more for symptoms to start, many got infected in their teens.

*  The number of reported AIDS cases among teenagers increased 96% between 1988 and 1990.

You May Already Know This But - -

YOU CANNOT GET AIDS from hugging, holding hands, mosquitoes or bugs.

YOU CAN GET AIDS from unprotected sexual contact.

HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS.

You cannot tell someone has the HIV virus by looking at them.

A blood test is the only way to be sure.

AIDS is fatal.

National Institute on Drug Abuse
GET HIGH, GET STUPID, GET AIDS. Drugs make you forget things and if you forget how risky sex can be, you can catch the AIDS virus and not know it for months, even years.

Hello, my name is Dr. George and I am here to help you to accept yourself as who you are.  I will be sharing with you some words of wisdom I have learned during my life. If you have any questions concerning yourself , I will be available to answer them if I can, but if not I will find you the answer. -  I am sharing with you excerpts from my favorite author, James Allen. I think you will enjoy him as much as I have.. - - - - If there is any special subject you would like me to address--just let your Director know .  I would be more than thrilled to be of any assistance I can to any of you.    Thank You.

Man is made or unmade by himself;  - - - in the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself.  - - - He fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.  -  - By the right choice and true application of thought, - - - - - - -man ascends to the Divine Perfection : by the abuse and wrong application of thought, he descends below the level of the beast .

Between these two extremes are all the grades of
character, and man is their maker and master.

Think before you act.  Today we are where our thoughts have taken us, and we are the architects of our thoughts -------- for better or worse ------- of our future.

Auto Immune Disease is not a disease to be taken lightly.  If you have ever seen anyone die from it, you understand what I am saying to you.  I am a Psychologist and I came to "Medical Assisted Treatment" seeking help  - - - -." Addiction Is A Disease" and it has no barriers as to who it claims as victims.  - It took control of my life because I was in pain and needed medication, but I developed a secondary addiction.  - - I am thankful to the people that created "Medical Assisted Treatment"  because they were there for me when I needed them. I just needed my thinking adjusted . - - Yes, I take methadone and I am functioning again and have taken my life back.  - - - I have joined forces with these wonderful people to offer what help I can.

It's very easy when you are high to make mistakes. - - Today having sex with the wrong person can cost you -your life. If you have never seen anyone die from it, then there is no way you can possibly understand what a hellish and agonizing death it is. Deborah and I both have seen people die and we would hate to see it happen to anyone, - and we both realize that  when you go into withdrawal you have a one -track mind - - any of you may engage in activity you normally wouldn't think of to acquire your need and too it applies the other way- If you get high using -you are not exactly thinking clearly - -  you are not the one controlling your mind, the medication has taken control and, - it is speaking for you   .It only takes one timeit could happen to any of you.  There's enough pain and suffering in each of our lives without adding more to it.   - - - Use your brain.  Think!   Where are your thoughts leading you?
